The wise people, seers and elders of tribes in the past are now extinct in our memory and society. Inspired by the seer in the series The Vikings, this song tells of the sadness of not having wise people to turn to for help, clarity, answers and healing any more.
lyrics
Wise One, you soared like a bird in the sky
Wise One, no one saw the tears in your eye
Once you could hear the oak tree sing
Now we’re left in a world filled with foolish kings
The spell that they cast, changed our past, and you’re lost to the mists of time
Wise One, could they ever have needed you more?
Wise One, they lost the purpose of what life is for
There is nothing that I can do or say
To make this troubled world go away
They must open their doors and fly to find yours in your own distant land
Knowing what was fed to us all, do we now feel the weight of the fall?
Blinded by envy and greed, we are masking our need for liberation
Do we now feel what went wrong, in a time where values had never been so strong?
Knowing your courage was there in asking for our liberation, so Wise One
Sleep in your ancient dreams; sleep in your ancient dreams….
Wise One, help us find what our souls really need
Wise One, then let us know what it means to be free
Now that chains are broken in every single line
No more will we see, or feel, or know your kind
We must open our hearts, look up to the stars, and find our way home
Ghosts on the horizon call, luring us to find our souls
Reach out and we’ll touch their hands, we’re asking for our liberation
Why are we so naive and numb, yet you warned us that this would all come
Tricked by those beguiling smiles, we’re now asking for liberation, so Wise One
Sleep in your ancient dreams; sleep in your ancient dreams….
I am something of an activist with my music & literature. As an indigenous Rom Gypsy my cultural and artistic work explores
the highs and lows of life/soul. I champion tribal origins, and the underdog in our modern times. I am tired of what this society tends to throw at us, especially innocent folk. I believe the awesome beauty of nature & the arts remains our only hope in this chaotic world....more
