Voiceless 06:39
Was invited, to come and stay here With impressions that I might just find a home Was attracted, to have a voice here But I found myself on my own I took the advice of a guiding star Who assured me I was worthy of the station He said never forget who you are Cos it’s a world where some will have no liberation, no liberation… You’re voiceless; you’re voiceless now… I’m voiceless, nah. I was thinking, shouldn’t be thinking In mirrors, realizations were looking back I was planning. I was singing. I believed there was nothing that I lacked While some were blessed to talk and had a voice I sat alone with something natural that seemed owing This isolation wasn’t my own choice There was just no room for voices singing poems, singing poems… You’re voiceless; you’re voiceless now… I’m voiceless, nah. So remember, if you have to grow here With words and notes and meanings that flow They’ll tell you you’ve other seeds to sow here They’ll tell you where they think you need to go It all depends how much you play the game And configure what you think is the redeemer I suppose there isn’t much more I can say In a world where there’s no room for the dreamer, for the dreamer… You’re voiceless; you’re voiceless now… I’m voiceless, nah.

I don’t understand how you do what you do How you measure who you are You can’t fit the people into the smallest cage I don’t know who you think you are I don’t understand how you work it all out We pay to live; we pay to die Can’t make it work; I don’t know what it’s about You seem immune to all our cries Cos it’s about the high and lowly You just can’t fight the high if you’re lowly. Can you presume the right to have so much more When no one has extra in the end You entered the world the same as everyone else Yet you’re entitled to offend Assumptions and reasons they don’t figure at all You stand guard at every door Opportunity is a natural thing Yet you think we ask for so much more Cos it’s about…. Is it for the high to claim the right When we’re starving, injured, dying, Is it for the lowly to be answerable When we’re war-torn, homeless, penniless – but we’re trying There’s no room for people on their own No place for love There’s no chance for children to come home If there’s something out there won’t it stretch down and help us from above Cos it’s about…. If I’m in cardboard sleeping on the ground If I’m out there wandering, don’t know where I’m bound If I try to make it work even though my skin is brown I can make it as long as I can fake it, fake it, fake it If I’m in danger floating out upon the sea If I’m in tears cos everything’s taken from me If I protest at a world falling apart at the seams I can make it as long as I can fake it, fake it, fake it. So why don’t you tell us why you do what you do And how you measure who you are How you fit the people into the smallest cage I don’t know who you think you are.

Lost Tribes 06:21
Who was it who said we didn’t belong Who was it who said we weren’t good people Whoever believed we had no song Couldn’t sing, they couldn’t sing the songs of home They couldn’t sing, couldn’t sing the songs of home. You worry that if we hide away they’ll find us anyway But I’m not sleeping ‘Cos I’m gonna build a bridge up to the sky And I talked with the sun today and he said he’d hide us away So mother stop your weeping I’m gonna take our people to the sky. Who was it who thought we’d waste away Who was it who betrayed our family Whoever believed the stars had no song Couldn’t sing, they couldn’t sing the songs of home They couldn’t sing, couldn’t sing the songs of home. You worry that if we conform their way they’ll use us anyway But I’m still fighting And I’m gonna build that bridge up to the sky Cos I talked with the moon today and she said she’d hide us away So mother stop your crying I’m gonna take our people to the sky. Who was it who said this is what we chose Who was it who doubted our heaven Whoever believed we had nowhere to turn Couldn’t sing, they couldn’t sing the songs of home They couldn’t sing, couldn’t sing the songs of home. Home, sing, sing the songs of home.

When dark skies are falling Those taken from us you will see, will be free Above the sounds of all the pain of our destruction We’re rising, not falling; our spirits are calling Our sun will rise for us once again. You may laugh, while we cry. You may live, while we die. So we say as we pray You won’t take the soul out of Palestine. We weep for the children I hear their laughter where their souls are free, wrapped in dreams Above despair in all the pain of our situation Living forever, we’re strong together Our sun will rise for us once again. You may laugh, while we cry You may live, while we die But we say as we pray You won’t take the soul out of Palestine Sure, there’s a way We will find a new day So we say as we pray You won’t crush the heart of Palestine. The tears won’t stain; freedom calls to all who hear her, There’s love and there’s fire as the passion grows higher Our sun will rise for us once again.

Being Born 07:13
Reach into the sky; reach into the hills And find an eye to step along the way Sail upon the sea; ride a golden beam The way is clear to carve a road for me I will think I’m on my own But I know which way lies home I’ll see your face and say, remember me. Old worlds start to fall; through the mists they call I stare into a sky I left behind Days and nights grow long; memories grow strong They won’t record my rest here in the warm I will think I’m on my own But I know which way lies home I’ll see your face and say, remember me. Can we see where we are going? Do we know where we are bound? We are the fathers of our children And our love, takes us round. Can we be certain that we’re moving For all the years that will rush by We are the mothers of our children And our love goes by. Spirals form my life; mazes form my strife I rest in dreams called death in my unknown Rings of fire will burn; pools of water churn My road will take me where I never go I will think I’m on my own But I know which way lies home I’ll see your face and say, remember me.

Robot World 06:50
They flew in, stepped from their machine, and a new song was sung The mechanicals put down their roots while the portals were young Dreams of the earlier life had soon faded away And we were left with the chaos we know and all live with today He said, ‘Isn’t it great you’ve developed so fast and so much.’ When I admitted my doubts, he told me I was just outta touch. I should move with the times and adapt to my role with good grace It was a moment when the mirror revealed my mechanical face. I said, don’t be surprised when you knock and I don’t open the door There’s a human inside me, and I don’t wanna do this no more If you say this world will never be rid of you I’ll stand proud in my shoes; it’s all a robot can do. He led me to the place in the lab where we’re all made He said, ‘This is the future, this is best, so don’t complain.’ We shouldn’t worry ‘bout sickness and conflict; it was under control Cos we really wouldn’t notice that anything was happening at all. At our very next update we’d gasp at the models we are We’d be intelligent, gorgeous and compliance would take us far Hearing these words made me just want to curl up and die But we have no graves here, so need to get back to the sky – Chorus. So now is the time when we’re called to a software update And we’ll readily accept what befalls us regarding our fate I hide in a corner, avoiding what I have to do And I send this dire warning; the future is all up to you. Don’t be alarmed when they knock; just don’t open the door There’s a human inside you, and you don’t need what they have in store If they tell you their world will benefit all that you do Make a stand in your shoes; it’s all a robot can do. If they tell us their world will benefit all that we do Let’s stand proud in our shoes; it’s all a robot can do.

Lying here, watching the stars as the silence holds my soul Things shout loud in the emptiest space as the memories unfold. In these hours, in these hours alone Enduring hours, when there’s no choice but to be alone. People pass; they make not a sound. How do I tell them I am here? Do they know how souls run aground when their lives just disappear? But no one can tear me away from the person that I need to be No one can scare me away, cos I’m the only one who can ever be me. But these hours, all these hours alone The world is hours, when there’s no choice but to be alone. The TV can be playing, while the radio can shout, there’s so much, so much, so much silence in the noise People are lost and playing; don’t know they’re about, they’re all busy, busy, busy with their techie toys. If no one is hearing my song, then it’s true that they may just not care If no one is hearing my song, then it’s a loss I will just have to bear. Within these hours, all these hours alone Only hours, for there’s no choice but to be alone. Alone…

Do you know your name? They ask him a thousand questions. Aren’t you afraid? Do you know who you are? Which side of the fence do you believe you are on now? Oh and by the way, there’s no life in the stars. No you’re not right, no you’re not right, no you’re not right, in your thinking. No you’re not right, no you’re not right, no you’re not right, in your mind All the voices, all the voices, all the voices and the visions No you’re not right; no you’re not right; just accept the way you are. Are you able to count? In control of your senses? What is the date? You must now forget your pain Which side of the fence do you believe you are on now? Oh and by the way there’s no life in the rain. No you’re not right, no you’re not right, no you’re not right, in your thinking. No you’re not right, no you’re not right, no you’re not right, in your mind All the voices, all the voices, all the voices and the visions No you’re not right; no you’re not right; just accept the way you are. Quieten up now, and take what you are given Quench your desires; you can’t go against the rules Which side of the fence do you believe you are on now? Oh and by the way there’s no life in a fool. No you’re not right, no you’re not right, no you’re not right, in your thinking. No you’re not right, no you’re not right, no you’re not right, in your mind All the voices, all the voices, all the voices and the visions No you’re not right; no you’re not right; just accept the way you are No you’re not right; no you’re not right; just accept the way you are Accept the way you are.

I know this dream; I know this place; how I know it; how I love it Beautiful dream, meaningful words; believe me. When I’m in the mind next door; I see my way to heaven’s shore When I’m in the mind next door; heaven. Rise up from all the ashes, contain the flashes of the light Rise up from all the darkness, disturb the harshness of the night. First there is a sign to go; where I’m going I don’t know Till I’m at the edge of time; then I know the world is mine Tilting on the edge and still; energy is higher than a hill I forget the hell ‘cos it’s gonna last forever, ever, ever. I know this dream; I know this place; I know it; I love it Beautiful dream, meaningful words; believe me. When I’m in the mind next door; I see my way to heaven’s shore When I’m in the mind next door; heaven. Rise up, the dusty pilgrim; you are no pilgrim when you’re next door Rise up, this is your moment, for your atonement, now, it’s heaven’s shore. We don’t need to scream and shout; once you’re there it all comes out Fighting it will go nowhere, when it happens who will care Tilting on the edge and still; energy is higher than a hill I forget the hell ‘cos it’s gonna last forever, ever, ever. I am in the mind next door.

She reaches down to tie her shoes; she only knows the normal things She draws a face in the windowpane When it’s over, she’d like to go where the angels sing. Whatever happens in the world she’s told they can’t take souls away Her rag doll says it’s time to play When it’s over, she’d like to go where the angels sing. What she gonna do? Where’s she gonna go? How’s it gonna be? In heaven Will she find her way? Will she see the sun again? When it’s over she’d like to go where the angels sing. Hold my hand. Just keep holding my hand, just keep holding on, holding on, holding on. I’ll keep hold of your heart, I’ll keep on holding your heart, Cos she’s voiceless, and she’s voiceless, she needs to go where the angels sing.

about

Patrick Jasper Lee Wales, UK

I am something of an activist with my music & literature. As an indigenous Rom Gypsy my cultural and artistic work explores the highs and lows of life/soul. I champion tribal origins, and the underdog in our modern times. I am tired of what this society tends to throw at us, especially innocent folk. I believe the awesome beauty of nature & the arts remains our only hope in this chaotic world. ... more
