This song is about death and what follows just after we die. A bird can fly across the sea with our souls to the otherworld, the ferryman can take us away to our new life. Being worthy of reaching that other shore should be what we are concerned with when we die.
lyrics
Hold on tight, don't let go, you're going to a place you've known before
A new day dawns, so ride the waves, until you reach the other shore
Gonna look your way, gonna face the spray, I gotta find the sun
If I make it through and I at last find you, I'll know the journey's done
Like a struggling seed, like a lonely tree, I'll be on my own
It's the biggest ask, but it's now my task, will you take me home?
I confess to say that I don't know the way, I need to trust that you will soon appear
It's been a long rough ride, and I need a guide, I guess hallo's the word I long to hear
If one could go where the music flows, I'd have to hope that someone could be me
The wind's my wings as the water sings of the licence to believe I can be free.
Gonna look your way, gonna face the spray, I gotta find the sun
If I make it through and I at last find you, I'll know the journey's done
Like a struggling seed, like a lonely tree, I'll be on my own
It's the biggest ask, but it's now my task, will you take me home?
I am something of an activist with my music & literature. As an indigenous Rom Gypsy my cultural and artistic work explores
the highs and lows of life/soul. I champion tribal origins, and the underdog in our modern times. I am tired of what this society tends to throw at us, especially innocent folk. I believe the awesome beauty of nature & the arts remains our only hope in this chaotic world....more
