This track tells of an ancient tale which everyone has now forgotten, how Yag, the spirit of fire, each year visits the realms of the sun in the otherworld on winter solstice day. He takes away the darkness in order to bring back the light on Christmas Day for the forthcoming year. As in many cultures, Yag, as a warriorlike, warm and compassionate spirit, is a forerunner of Christ in midwinter. Long ago, an ancient ritual was acted out for the sake of Kam the spirit of the sun, so that we, together with Yag, could ask him to return to us for another year because we know that without his light and warmth, life could simply not flourish on Earth.
lyrics
The Sun’s Christmas Tale
There’s an ancient tale concealed in the fading light
No one remembers it now like I remember you tonight
And soon as I see the light’s new rays
I pray Yag, you’ll return, on Christmas Day
When the sunlight is weak, and all the nights are long
I wish you a journey safe, where all the good dreams are strong
And soon, as I see the light’s new rays
I pray Yag, you’ll return, on Christmas Day
He knows the moment; he knows the way
He’s in our hearts and minds on this Kamesco Day
So I think now of Yag on the plains to the sun
He takes our pain away, and that’s why he is the One
No one now recalls, how much he takes the darkness away
That’s why he fights his way through, to live another Christmas Day
He knows the moment; he knows the way
He’s in our hearts and minds, on this Kamesco Day
On the ancient pathway, he knows the fight
Yet he’ll return to us, with a brand new year tonight
He knows the moment; he knows the way
He’s in our hearts and minds, on this Kamesco Day
On the ancient pathway, he knows the fight
Yet he’ll return to us, with a brand new year tonight
I am something of an activist with my music & literature. As an indigenous Rom Gypsy my cultural and artistic work explores
the highs and lows of life/soul. I champion tribal origins, and the underdog in our modern times. I am tired of what this society tends to throw at us, especially innocent folk. I believe the awesome beauty of nature & the arts remains our only hope in this chaotic world....more
